Northern Europe's largest privately owned conference venue, Wyboston Lakes, has just completed a major refurbishment and upgrade of the kitchens in the Waterfront restaurant/bar.

Wyboston Lakes has just completed a major refurbishment and upgrade of the kitchens in the Waterfront restaurant/bar This doubles the capacity of the kitchens to meet the dramatic growth in popularity of the Waterfront

Wyboston Lakes is set in a 350-acre rural site near St Neots, midway between Cambridge and Bedford and is the largest privately owned conference venue in northern Europe.

The original GBP2 million Waterfront project was completed in 2004, and provides a main bar and relaxation area to support the conference and meeting facilities.

Additional to the three main restaurants, the Waterfront serves quality bar meals and snacks throughout the day to cater for conference delegates, the serviced offices and local business visitors.

Such has been its success that the turnover generated by food in the Waterfront last year was more than double that originally forecast.

Operations director Olivier Six commented: "Overlooking the golf course and the lakes, we always felt that the Waterfront would provide an attraction both for delegates and local people, but it has proven to be even more popular than we hoped.

We use fresh, locally grown ingredients in our kitchens whenever we can which has helped our team of international chefs present the highest standard of cuisine.

This includes authentic Thai, Indian, English and Continental dishes, and the upgraded kitchens means that we can now offer an even greater selection of dishes." The Waterfront has established a reputation for excellent value and service, which culminated in receiving top accolades for 'Restaurant of the Year' and 'Manager of the Year' in the annual competition organised by a national leading magazine in November 2006.

Added Six, "The improvements to the kitchens and the plans for extending the seating to accommodate bookings for up to 100 people means we now have the facilities to hold even more special culinary events during the year.

As well as the very successful Sunday Brunches, we will be organising special themed Food Festivals each month and later this year we will be holding 'National Vegetarian Week', so 2007 will be an exciting year for us.".
