Over 100 guests joined international design consultancy WPA Pinfold at an auction of works of art on the theme of vision, with all proceeds going to Sightsavers International.

On track to raise the targeted GBP5,000 and with some artworks selling for over GBP300, the art produced by all employees was displayed in a gallery space in its Ex Libris studios and was also available in an online gallery, which will be transferred to a permanent virtual gallery on its website The virtual gallery will continue to sell selected limited edition art, t-shirts, posters, badges and catalogue's with all funds going to Sightsavers International for the remainder of the year

This is the third event of its kind that the consultancy has created; the idea behind the event is to utilise the designers skills to create art works that are both inspiring and of sufficient value to make a significant contribution to the good cause.

It is a team effort, everyone from WPA Pinfold is involved (working in their own time) and suppliers too, who donate their services free of charge.

Myles Pinfold, managing director, commented: "As a company we could simply donate an amount of money to charity, which would be much easier.

"For us, the challenge is to use our creative skills to increase the value of any donations we might have made, for instance by taking a t-shirt worth, say GBP5, and making it worth GBP20 or more, by branding it.

"Once again, everyone rose to the challenge and became involved and there was a great buzz on the night.

"We respect Sightsavers who work to ensure that children with eye conditions across Africa, Asia and the Caribbean are identified and treated at the earliest opportunity".

Jennifer Rule of Sightsavers International said: "WPA Pinfold are raising much more than money with this event; they are introducing a wide spectrum of people to the work that we undertake to prevent blindness across Africa and Asia, and we are very grateful to them for all the effort they have put into helping raise awareness of our cause".
