Personalising the customer experience
Making your brand stand out in the customer's mind is key to driving revenues and carving out a strong position, argues Simon Robinson, Marketing Director EMEA of web expert Vignette.
Vignette extends web experience management
Vignette has announced a series of new and enhanced products that will be released as part of its Web Experience Platform to help organisations deliver superior online experiences.
"Our website is the primary communications channel to our global customers, so it's important for us to deliver a personal and timely web experience that's fast and always available," said Scott Lawson, IT business systems architect at QAD, a leading provider of enterprise applications for global manufacturing companies.
"Vignette High Performance Delivery can help us demonstrate that delivering fresh, dynamic content and maintaining a high-performance website are not mutually exclusive ideals".
Unlike existing caching technologies that rely on time expirations and user interaction to regenerate cached items, Vignette HPD automatically invalidates and updates the website cache as changes occur.

Vignette makes the web personal
Expanding on its Web Experience Platform, Vignette, has announced three new products targeting organisations that want to deliver more personal and engaging web experiences.
Ogilvyone launches email marketing service
Leading direct marketing and digital agency OgilvyOne Worldwide London has set up a new practice to deliver cutting-edge email marketing on behalf of its clients.
HPD's approach helps ensure content changes across multiple web pages are uniformly updated and available to site visitors in real time, dramatically reducing maintenance costs and virtually eliminating the risk of errors or missing content.
Additionally, HPD's straightforward set-up and management can significantly reduce the amount of IT resources and infrastructure required to run a website.
Benchmark test results performed by Vignette in its performance lab showed Vignette HPD provides dramatic performance improvements under a variety of conditions.
For example, in several tests performed by Vignette, when 80 per cent of a site's web pages were cached, HPD provided a 450-500 per cent improvement in peak sustainable throughput versus a site not running HPD.
In these same tests, when 90 per cent of the tested site's pages were cached, the throughput improvement often exceeded 800 per cent.
Test results also showed significant performance improvements for sites running dynamic portlets using AJAX and SSI (Server Side Include) technologies.
"The benefits of HPD actually go beyond page response time and throughput," said David O'Connell, senior analyst at Nucleus Research.
"HPD can be used by a business analyst or even someone without a technological background in the line of business group.
"This enables companies to save money by off-loading tactical work from IT.
"More importantly, it gives line of business people more agility and independence in continually fine tuning their web presence and adapting to business opportunities".
"Some of the world's most well-known brands rely on Vignette to help them deliver personal, social and multichannel web experiences to their key audiences," said Mike Aviles, president and CEO of Vignette.
"By offering a product that can enhance the speed and reliability of those experiences, we are helping our customers improve brand loyalty, reduce their IT costs and better execute their unique Web strategies".
