A Valassis product story

Customers who collect their prescriptions from an ASDA pharmacy are being offered a Stop Smoking goodie bag, the brainchild of marketing media and coupon processing company Valassis.

Each of the 150,000 multi-brand bags to be distributed during the promotion comprises an open compartment, where the customer's prescription is placed, and a sealed pouch containing quit-smoking placebos, an offer booklet and promotional literature.

Valassis's marketing manager, Ming Blackburn, said: "Valassis came up with the idea in partnership with ASDA, campaign-managed the programme, was responsible for gaining participation, managing the brands, collating the artwork and organising the print, production and distribution to ASDA, from where they are being distributed to consumers by ASDA pharmacists.

"Our strong working relationships with ASDA and the branded participants allowed us to manage the theme, content and overall identity of the bag and booklet".

The bag gives smokers the opportunity to sample new flavours from Nicorette (fresh fruit gum placebo) and Nicotinell (mint gum placebo) and receive a range of information from other leading brands that support ASDA's smoke-free campaign.

An ASDA information and offer booklet brimming with information to reinforce the smoke-free message is included as well as offers from leading brands.
