Online advertising network Utarget has teamed up with direct-to-desktop content channel Zebtab, in a move designed to drive online video advertising opportunities.

The deal offers Utarget customers the chance to stream short pre-roll ads before online video content, delivered via the Zebtab desktop alert service.

Zebtab distributes "bite-size" rich content and entertainment straight to users' desktops, allowing them to view preferred content from their favourite websites.

The service already delivers banner advertising opportunities through Sky Media, but the new partnership will see Utarget exclusively offering pre-roll video advertising to their clients.

"The recent growth of the online video advertising market has led to brands looking for creative ways to engage consumers and maximise return on investment," said Phil Cooper, Utarget CEO.

"Zebtab has opened a genuinely new content stream and our collaboration will deliver a powerful new opportunity for our clients to deliver brand messages directly to users' desktops".

Damon Oldcorn, CEO of Zebtab, said: "We have been keen to find the right partner for the delivery of pre-roll advertising and Utarget is the clear expert in this fast-growing sector".

The ads will accompany content from Zebtab's rapidly increasing portfolio of content partners, including Maxim magazine, Virtual Festivals, Firebox, EMI, Stuff Magazine and Kamikaze Vids.
