Full service digital agency twentysix London's campaign for Royal Navy Careers has been nominated for a web Oscar.

The campaign has been selected as an Official Honoree in the 'Government' category of the 12th Annual webby Awards, the leading international awards for digital and online work.

The Royal Navy Careers campaign was selected from over 10,000 entries from more than 60 countries and is among the top 15 per cent of entries chosen as Official Honorees.

Hailed as the "Oscars of the Internet", The webby Awards is the leading international award honouring excellence on the internet, including websites, interactive advertising, online film and video, and mobile websites.

The awards are presented and judged by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, whose members include leading web experts, business figures, luminaries, visionaries and creative celebrities.

Prominent Academy members include musicians Beck and David Bowie, internet inventor Vint Cerf, political columnist Arianna Huffington, Real Networks CEO Rob Glaser, "The Simpsons" creator Matt Groening, R/GA Founder and Chairman Robert Greenberg, Virgin Atlantic chairman and founder Richard Branson, and The Weinstein Company co-founder Harvey Weinstein.

"The webby Awards honour the outstanding work that is setting the standards for the internet," said David-Michel Davies, executive director of The webby Awards.

"Royal Navy Careers' selection as an Official Honoree is a testament to the skill, ingenuity and vision of twentysix London, the agency behind the campaign".

Paul Coffey, client services director at twentysix London, said: "This is a great honour and a testament to the hard work and effort that went into creating the Royal Navy Careers site and the Royal Navy's brave approach to recruitment.

"The campaign employs innovative and cutting-edge concepts, with live feeds and a high degree of user interactivity".

Liz Ridgeway from the Royal Navy added: "Twentysix's vision for Royal Navy Careers closely matched what we were looking for.

"The campaign's selection as a webby Awards Official Honoree is a much deserved accolade".
