Specialist conference and exhibition organiser Retail Events and Retail Technology magazine, owned by BPL Business Media, are delighted to announce their merger.

The combined expertise and heritage of the two brands will represent a new and credible central resource to promote developments and showcase goods and services within the retail sector.

The new partnership with BPL commences with the announcement of the launch of "The Retail Business Show Awards" taking place on 28 January 2009 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane London, designed to acknowledge the very finest in multi-channel retailing.

The awards, running alongside the revamped Retail Business Show, 28-29 January, 2009, present an original approach to retail awards, complete with a stellar judging panel made up of key representatives from the multi-channel retailing sector and a very exciting and unique host to be announced very shortly.

Commenting on the new partnership, Paul Bessant, Managing Director of Retail Events, said: "Retail Events is now firmly established within the retail industry and highly respected for hosting dynamic, forward-thinking events and as our events' focus predominantly on new technology, combining forces with Retail Technology magazine means that together we substantially increase our offering and consolidate our authority".

Simon Turton, publisher of Retail Technology, said: ""I am very excited to be part of Retail Events and believe that the company is now, more than ever, a force to be reckoned with.

"I am convinced that the great synergies that exist between Retail Technology magazine and the raft of events we have in the pipeline, promise to deliver over and above what the industry has come to expect".

Chris Boeree, Chairman of BPL Business Media and Retail Events, said: "The fusion of Retail Technology with Retail Events creates a very powerful route to market for vendors and suppliers to the retail industry and a strong focus for international expansion.

BPL and its media products will be giving its full support to the expanded Retail Events".

Retail Technology Magazine will operate under the Retail Events banner with immediate effect.

The complete details of The Retail Business Show Awards will be announced on 1 July via the Retail Events website.
