Marketing has key role in patient-led NHS
David Thorp, director of research and professional development at the Chartered Institute of Marketing is to chair the Achieving Excellence in NHS Customer Care HSJ Conference on 23 June 2009.
The Chartered Institute of Marketing believes that marketing has an important role to play in the patient-led NHS, and customer care is a key area for marketers to concentrate on, and deliver results that benefit patients and the NHS.
Speaking ahead of the event, Thorpe said: 'The patient is increasingly at the heart of the NHS's operations - yet many within the NHS have been slow to realise the significance of this shift and the vital role marketing has to play in improving the patient's experience.
'Healthcare professionals need to get to grips with how marketing tools and strategies can be used to deliver a better patient experience and improved results.
