CIM to publish 2012 Olympics paper
The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) is to publish an agenda paper, entitled 'The Event That Dare Not Speak Its Name', which will examine how UK businesses can benefit from the 2012 Olympics.
It will be launched on 25 September at Moor Hall, Cookham, as part of the CIM's first national roadshow for its agenda papers.
With the Olympic Movement, the UK government and big corporations seemingly determined to keep marketing and sponsorship opportunities in the hands of a select few, the CIM's latest paper asks whether UK marketers will see any benefits from the sporting event.
It also examines legal restrictions on advertising connected with the Games and what opportunities remain for organisations to get involved.
David Thorp, director of research and information at the CIM, said: 'Although the 2012 Olympic Games will primarily be based in London, businesses across the country can benefit from this fantastic showcase for the UK, and marketers should be looking now for opportunities to get involved and profit from the massive investment the government has made in the Games.
Every six months the CIM produces an agenda paper, looking at major topics for marketing professionals.
