CIM highlights professional qualification benefits
The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) has urged marketers to realise the benefits of becoming professionally qualified.
Research carried out for the CIM by Croner Reward showed the financial benefits of professional qualifications.
The study revealed that professionally qualified marketing directors earn on average ?10,000 more than their unqualified or part-qualified peers.
The research also showed that professionally qualified marketing officers also earn around ?4,000 more than those who are only part-qualified.
In addition, the CIM study revealed that professional qualifications can give applicants an advantage over others in what is an increasingly intense and selective jobs market, and also reflect positively on the organisations employing them.
Keith Fletcher, director of education at the CIM, said: 'The marketing profession is becoming increasingly accountable and, with Bank of England governor, Mervyn King, reminding us that the nice decade is behind us, this trend will only intensify.
'For organisations that employ professionally qualified marketers, they have on hand expertise to make the most of the opportunities an economic downturn brings.
Four core qualifications are offered, developed from the CIM's Professional Marketing Standards framework and the UK government's National Occupational Standards for Marketing.
They form the industry standard for marketing professionals and offer individuals a series of career milestones designed to help them progress through to chartered marketer status.
Fletcher added: 'Our qualifications are designed to have a practical, real-world application, so students and employers can immediately see the benefits.
