Event provides insight for South West
marketers
The annual South West marketing forum held in Bristol drew over 100 marketers from businesses across the region, providing an in-depth look at sustainability and its impact on brands.
The message from keynote speaker John Elkington, one of the world's leading authorities on sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR), was that sustainability is not simply about being green or reaping economic benefits but also about developing a wider social conscience Elkington continued to say that marketers need to understand their social landscape and intuitively embed these values into the brand and the management of the business

The forum, organised and funded by the Chartered Institute of Marketing South West, was held at The University of the West of England Business School, which jointly sponsored the event with Business Link.
Phil Comer, one of the event's organisers and regional chair of The Chartered Institute of Marketing South West, said: "With sustainability and social responsibility so high on the world's business agenda, we attracted 22 speakers from leading organisations and businesses across the country who gave an insight into their own best practice and cutting edge initiatives.
"The day's workshops and seminars provided marketers with the knowledge and tools they need to go and take a fresh look at their own businesses".
He added: "As more and more companies look for businesses with a similar ethical ethos to their own, there is a real danger that SMEs in the South West may find themselves squeezed out of existing markets if they don't develop a sustainable strategy".
