The UK arm of the charitable fund raising and advocate of type 1 (juvenile) diabetes research worldwide has appointed branding consultancy Spencer du Bois to review its brand positioning.

Max du Bois, Executive Director at Spencer du Bois, said: "There is so much misunderstanding and ignorance about type 1 diabetes "JDRF has pioneered all the major scientific breakthroughs in this area

"Finding a cure is simply a matter of time and the more money that is invested in research the tangibly shorter that time becomes.

"We're looking forward to helping JDRF make real strides in achieving this".

The project comes as the charity aims to raise awareness as the voice of the people who live with type 1 diabetes.

The charity's extensive fund-raising activities have been instrumental in accelerating research into type 1 diabetes, being responsible for all major scientific breakthroughs, and intends to increase levels of research further to find a cure for type 1 diabetes.

In 2007 alone it has funded more than 20 major research projects.

Spencer du Bois' work will help it focus its brand, improve engagement with existing audiences and widen its fundraising potential.

Sarah Johnson, Director of Communications at JDRF, said: "This year has been really successful and we need to build on that work.

"Spencer du Bois' work will play a vital role in creating inspired solutions to improve our external communications".
