NCOA file added to Cygnus software

A The Software Bureau product story

The Software Bureau has embedded the Royal Mail's National Change of Address (NCOA) file into its Cygnus data management software.

The company said this development enables Cygnus to offer end users, mailing houses and bureaux a pre-approved NCOA solution.

The NCOA file is taken from Royal Mail's redirection database, which contains the names and both the new and old addresses of residential customers who have taken out a permanent redirection.

For end users the NCOA file was unavailable to buy and run directly and needed to be run via a bureau.

However, with the NCOA file embedded within Cygnus, end users will now be able to buy and access the file on-demand, without having to undergo the stringent and expensive security audit that would otherwise accompany its use.

For mailing houses and bureaux that use Cygnus to process data, the NCOA file is available without having to undergo any security audits.

In addition, Cygnus users will be able to instantly match and retrieve data from more than 15 million records, enabling companies to maintain contact with their customers, even if they have moved.

This is said to help to improve response rates, while reducing the costs and the environmental impact of incorrect mailings.
