The Software Bureau has named insurance giant esure as latest client to take data processing inhouse by purchasing its flagship data management software Cygnus.

Esure joins Direct Wines, Homeserve and the Bank of New York as household-name users of the 'bureau in a box' software The Cygnus client list also includes agencies Tullo Marshall Warren and Golley Slater and mailing houses Howitt and Formpro Mail Marketing

Purchasing Cgynus will empower esure to take responsibility for processing and managing their data inhouse via Cygnus' desktop interface, supported by ongoing technical support.

This latest announcement follows the release of an enhanced version of Cygnus that incorporates three key suppression files; Disconnect by Equifax, MPS and, in a UK first, Mortascreen by Millennium.

Neil Fisher, Direct Marketing Manager at esure, said of Cygnus: ''After assessing several software solutions on the market, Cygnus' level of functionality, its ease of use and the knowledge of the team at The Software Bureau made the choice an easy one".

Mark Dobson, Client Services Director at The Software Bureau, added: "Getting big names like esure on board serves as further validation of how accessible and comprehensive the software is.

"We've always believed that companies are quite capable of, and indeed should be, taking their data processing inhouse and this latest deal suggests that this idea is gaining momentum.".
