The Shop and Display Equipment Association (sdea) has published a new guide to the UK retail display industry - the sdea Directory 2007/2008.

The sdea handbook gives shopfitting buyers, visual merchandisers, retail designers and brand owners a comprehensive insight into the association's selected retail display specialists The latest edition of this highly acclaimed handbook is divided into five sections, allowing readers to locate the right suppliers for them

The A-Z guide lists all the companies with full contact details, plus an overview of their activities.

There is a photo gallery giving visual interpretations of the diverse range of products this industry offers, with guides to the products and services and the retail trades in which each company specialises.

There is also a geographical guide and a trade names index.

All this ensures that suppliers can be identified quickly and easily.

More ideas and inspiration can be found within the Retail Reviews section, which is dedicated to the latest and greatest retail design concepts to launch this year.

Three firm fashion favourites lead the way as they launch their new flagship stores.

HandM's upmarket new fashion venture, COS, opened its doors on Regent Street in the grand building formerly occupied by Liberty.

Primark has redefined how the value market should be presented with its new flagship store on London's Oxford Street.

While in Nottingham, New Look launched its biggest and best 'top level city market' store.

Former web based retailer, Hotel Chocolat, has transformed itself into a fabulous looking, 22-strong retail chain in just two years and in the specialist retail market, the new London Transport Museum Shop gives a contemporary face to a tired and much criticised service.

Finally heading East, readers can see how Piramyd is setting a new world class retail level in its department stores in India.

This year sdea is celebrating 60 years in the retail display industry and, to mark the occasion, it has included a special feature which chronicles the highlights and landmarks over the years, plus a bonus feature, 'the future of retail'.

Heidi Easton interviews two top retail designers, Stefan Zachary of Zachary Design and David Dalziel of Dalziel and Pow for an insight into the future of retail design over the next 60 years.

Normally priced at £10, the sdea Directory is available free of charge to the first 50 readers of this article to call 01883 348911 or email enquiries@sdea.co.uk.

sdea also offers InfoLine, a telephone information service, which helps retailers source particular products, services and suppliers.

An online version of the directory contains full details on all members, plus a product locator and search facility.
