A business survey by Shortburst has revealed that 96 per cent of consumers receive regular e-mail newsletters, indicating that the medium is now widely accepted among them.

The survey was conducted among UK businesses.

It also revealed that 14 per cent of people who receive unwanted e-mail newsletters do not bother to unsubscribe and just delete the message instead, which means they will continue to receive further editions from the sender.

Nick Pauley of Shortburst said: 'This is possibly a consequence of dire warnings that spammers are able to verify that e-mail addresses are working if recipients unsubscribe.

'Nowadays built-in un-subscription operates in the background of all good mass mailing programs and automatically removes e-mail addresses, so there's no need to worry about unsubscribing from an e-mail if you recognise the sender as a reputable organisation.' Shortburst has developed into a fully automated web-based electronic communication package which is available 24 hours a day.

Operating a pay-as-you-go system it requires no software purchase or download and is accessible through any internet browser.

Used for e-newsletter and bulletins Shortburst helps to overcome problems often encountered during bulk e-mail communication, including spam-labelling and format recognition by the receiving computer.
