How to write your first email newsletter
Nick Pauley, managing director of Shortburst, gives guidance on writing an e-newsletter.
Shortburst overcomes all the problems often encountered during bulk email communication, including spam-labelling and format recognition by the receiving computer.
Via an internet browser interface users can access the simple editing suite design system which is both easy to use and rich in format features.
"There are lots of self-service email newsletter programs but Shortburst is different because it doesn't present users with design compromises," explained Nick Pauley, managing director of Shortburst.
"The set-up fee includes template designs by our professional designers and this ensures that all Shortburst newsletters arrive looking good and business-like.
"We've been providing our customers with e-newsletter generation and broadcast technology for a long time, but of course every time they wished to send out a newsletter they had to ask us to compile it for them.
"What they wanted was professionally designed graphics but at the same time the ability to create content and do the rest of the job themselves.
"They wanted a system that didn't require any knowledge of internet technology or html formatting.
As well as text, they asked for html format options and the facility to include images.
Once we'd designed the Shortburst systems, it followed on that the tracking technology should also be visible to our clients, so that they could observe the results of their campaigns in 'real-time'." Shortburst email broadcast technology ensures that the emails are sent with the right identifiers to prevent them becoming labelled as spam at the receiving end.
Tracking allows users to see in their web browser window which recipients actually open the emails and when and what links they click on.
A user-friendly cost calculator is included in the Shortburst website so that users can see at a glance set-up costs and the cost of email broadcast credits.
