Figures released by Recently Moved have identified where the most home moves took place in the UK over the past 12 months.

The statistics from recentlymoved.co.uk, a direct marketing service for home improvement businesses, indicate which postcode areas of the UK might be the most popular to live in, and which have had the most active property market over the past year.

According to the data, many of the most popular areas for home movers are located outside the South East.

The Birmingham postcode area had 72,652 home moves taking place over the past 12 months, followed by Manchester (50,053), Belfast (49,234), and Sheffield (48,927).

Only then does London feature among the most popular places for moving house, with East London (48,150) and South East London (48,143) leading the capital.

The figures have been released by Recently Moved, a marketing service which helps businesses target local consumers after they move house, when they are likely to spend more on areas like home improvement, furnishing and landscaping.

Recently Moved gathers details of home movers across the country based on 122 different postcode areas, and makes the data available in a monthly list to use in direct marketing.

More information is available at recentlymoved.co.uk.
