A survey of companies featured in a new direct marketing list called Prospa, has identified where the UK's fastest growing businesses are located.

A recent survey has revealed that London is currently the UK's leading area for business growth and profitability.

The survey of businesses included in the new Prospa database from Selectabase, shows that almost 17 per cent of the UK's fastest growing businesses were located in central London postcodes.

The businesses surveyed are featured in the Prospa direct marketing list, which only includes details of UK companies that have experienced growth of between 10-1000 per cent, and that have also registered profits.

These leads are seen as having greater value for direct marketing and sales purposes, compared to companies that may be growing rapidly, but are yet to achieve profitability.

The strength of London as a location for growing business also extends outwards.

One of the next largest areas was the band just outside London, which included over 10 per cent of the UK's fastest growing businesses in postcode areas such as GU, RH, TW and KT.

Scotland came off worst in the survey, with the majority of Scottish rural postcodes coming last, although more growing businesses were to be found in Glasgow.
