Companies missing out on SaaS

A Saaspoint product story

Many companies are missing out on the benefits of Software-as-a-Service because they think that integration with existing legacy systems is overly complex and time consuming.

This was stated by Frank McCracken, a founder and executive vice president of Saaspoint, when he spoke at the SIIA OnDemand Europe conference in Amsterdam last week.

Saaspoint is one of the largest global providers of consulting services centered around the OnDemand and Software as a Service (SaaS) delivery model and is 100 per cent focused on salesforce.com-based projects.

"SaaS applications vendors have a better track record of maintaining stable APIs than do the legacy on-premise vendors; it is true that you need to adopt a different way of thinking to traditional integration but this should not deter CIOs from embracing the benefits which the on-demand model brings," McCracken told the SIIA OnDemand Europe conference, which is organised by the Software and Information Industry Association.

"Not only can you retain your legacy on-premise software but you enhance its usability and adoption".

He added: "The war of words between SaaS and traditional on-premise software may have led some to believe that it's a case of one or other: it's not.

"Traditional software can live with on-demand if you approach it intelligently".

He added that adopting the right integration model ensured that companies benefited immediately from regular upgrades: "The traditional headaches from integrating and making software upgrades compatible are eliminated under the SaaS model".
