Halls to accommodate growth at Amnesty

A Royal Horticultural Halls and Conference Centre product story
Edited by the Marketingservicestalk editorial team May 5, 2008

The Royal Horticultural Halls and Conference Centre is to host the inspirational Amnesty International Media Awards in 2008.

The Amnesty International Media Awards have grown substantially in size and significance since they were launched in 1992.

The move to the Lawrence Hall will be the third time organisers have relocated the event in the past four years in order to manage its expanding audience.

Samuel Jones, Media Awards Coordinator at Amnesty International, said: "The awards are steadily growing in stature and prestige and have become an important date in the media calendar.

"Over the years we have seen an impressive increase in the number of entries, indicating that the Awards are meeting their objective of increasing the quality and quantity of human rights coverage in the UK media.

"As a result we are inviting more people than ever to this year's ceremony and we are confident that the Lawrence Hall can accommodate these additional guests".

The awards, which take place in June, give recognition to journalists who have brought human rights abuses to light through their reporting and acknowledge their significant contribution to the UK public's awareness and understanding of international human rights issues.

Hosted by Moira Stuart, the ceremony is expected to garner over 500 guests, including a range of prominent UK media personalities.

Jones continued: "We chose the Lawrence Hall because it is a big, impressive space which acts as a blank canvas for our branding.

"The service we have had from the sales and operations teams has been very good and they have exceeded our expectations in accommodating our needs.

"We would consider using the Halls again in the future".

A total of 11 awards will be presented at the ceremony on Tuesday 17 June at the Royal Horticultural Halls in Westminster, including the Special Award for Human Rights Journalism Under Threat and best Television Documentary and Docudrama.
