Pearl Medical takes Ring2 mobile conferencing
Pearl Medical, a managed service provider of BlackBerrys for medical professionals, is integrating the Ring2 Conference Controller for BlackBerry as a key component of its service offering.
Pearl Medical is offering the Ring2 Conference Controller for BlackBerry as a cutting-edge feature for its suite of services designed to provide busy medical professionals with a single platform for managing their communications.
It felt the Ring2 application, which allows users to arrange and control conference calls directly from a BlackBerry device, was ideal for enhancing its members' ability to communicate in groups without having to meet in person.
The company was equally impressed by the system's ease of deployment - Pearl Medical simply makes Ring2 available via a managed BlackBerry Enterprise Server - and has already done so for its customer base of more than 2,000 medical professionals.
"The Ring2 Conference Controller for BlackBerry is the perfect complement to our offering, which aims to make the use of mobile technology as easy and convenient as possible for our busy health professionals", said Philip May, director, Pearl Medical.
"It is simple for a non-technical person to use, and the remote control feature is a true breakthrough in making conference calls a smooth experience.
"We think it will open up our customers to using their BlackBerry devices in ways they may not have previously envisioned".
According to May, many medical professionals are wary of conference calling, because they view it as a formal "corporate" tool rather than a convenient method of connecting with important professional and personal contacts.
The Ring2 application is already changing people's minds, however.
"Because of the simplicity and convenience of the application, our customers are starting to realise this is a great way to manage their professional and personal communications," said May.
"Ring2 strives to solve real, everyday problems and frustrations that turn users off of traditional conference calling".
"Our remote control feature enables the visibility, security and control necessary for realising the powerful advantages of conferencing as a communications tool," said John Flynn, vice president of sales at Ring2 Conferencing.
"We are pleased that Pearl Medical has chosen this unique tool as an integral part of their service offering".
The Ring2 Conference Controller for BlackBerry handsets works by alerting the call leader as soon as the first invited participant joins the call, asking the call leader what they would like to do - check out who just joined; join the call from a phone of their choice; or ignore the notification.
With a single click, the call leader then has a simple remote control tool at hand to see who is on the call or missing at any given time; make sure no one is listening in who shouldn't be; add someone to the call who's missing; mute the person with background noise on the line; make sure others have dropped off the call before embarking on a private side conversation (or actively put them on hold to music if it's just a brief interlude); record the call for retrieval as an MP3 file directly after the call; assign a billing code for disbursement/accounting purposes.
