Ring2 Conferencing, which offers remote control of calls from a mobile device, has been named a finalist for the CNET Networks UK Business Technology Awards 2007.

The CNET Networks UK Business Technology Awards recognise innovation, application and excellence in technology and business.

Ring2 is one of five finalists in the Mobile Product or Service of the Year category.

The other four finalists are Intel Corporation (UK), iPass, T-Mobile and Vodafone/Dexterra.

Ring2's innovative service is a premium business audio-conferencing service, which eliminates familiar problems and frustrations for conference callers by turning a BlackBerry smartphone into a remote controller of the call.

Users still dial into the call from any phone, but can then separately take remote control of the call from their BlackBerry smartphone for increased visibility, security and control.

They receive an alert when the first invited participant joins and can then: join as leader from a phone of their choice; see a real-time list of participants as they join or leave the call; ensure nobody is listening in who shouldn't be; add a missing participant from the BlackBerry smartphone's address book; mute the participant with distracting background noise; record the call, downloadable as an MP3 file.

"We are pleased to recognise Ring2 as a finalist in the mobile product or service category this year", said Suzie Daniels, head of business media at CNET Networks UK.

"Their service addresses issues that we've all experienced on conference calls and in a very simple way for users".

"It's an honour to be included amongst this distinguished group of finalists in UK mobility," said Steve Flavell, co-CEO and co-founder of Ring2.

"This award nomination recognises that our service is effective in addressing real everyday problems that resonate with frequent conference callers".

The winners of the CNET Networks UK Business Technology Awards 2007 will be announced at a gala dinner on 24 September at the London Hilton on Park Lane.
