Research Studios launches motion graphics offer

A Research Studios product story

Global design company Research Studios has launched an international motion graphics offer.

The company, launched by British designer and art director Neville Brody in 1994, has already enjoyed success in the sector on a project by project basis for names like Paramount Films (for whom it executed all on-screen graphics for the titles sequences of the Mission Impossible Films), Old Navy, Channel 4, Eurosport, Touchstone Pictures, Ushuaia TV, Xindao and WAT.

The new offer will specialise in television branding, broadcast design and presentation installations: from the complete design and redesign of channel graphics packages, to idents, promos, main titles, and everything in-between, using 2D and 3D platforms.

Neville Brody will act as Art Director on all projects and Italian designer Alex Mazza will be lead motion graphics designer.

Mazza previously worked for Concrete Design and then with creative house Squarezero.

He has worked in many areas of design, from 3D animation and compositing to print and web design, and from initial concept and storyboarding straight through to delivering the final product.

Mazza has worked on projects for 3 Mobile, Nickleodeon, BBC, Channel 4, Disney, Channel 5, emap and Thomas Cook.

Alex Mazza of Research Studios commented: "It makes perfect sense for Research Studios to start working more regularly in this field and I am honoured and excited to be here at the beginning of this venture".

"We are well known for the breadth of our creative offer and this brings our design service full circle.

"The company is now accepting briefs for advertisements, tv titles/credits, music videos, and tv/movie opening sequences and we will be announcing our first major project next month".

Brody commented: "Increasingly, we have been asked by clients to extend our working relationship with them to include motion graphics work and as a result we have been involved in some great projects in recent years, so, we felt the time was right to formalise what we have been doing and to make motion graphics a more tangible part of our offer.

"Although Motion Graphics will be located in London, the way that we operate means that projects will be handled across the Research Studios network.

"By operating in this way we can just as easily work on a channel identity in the US, Spain or Germany as in the UK.

"Each of our studios offers different skill sets and projects are often shared between two or more studios providing an ideas rich environment for clients.

"This way of working also means that projects benefit from the contributions of artists working in very different kinds of cultures.

"This has always been a very successful formula for us and one that sets us apart from our peer group".

Research Studios is currently based in London, Barcelona, Berlin, Paris and New York and plans to open a new office in an emerging economy in the first quarter of 2008.

Over the past 12 months Research Studios has created the new 3D packaging for world famous champagne label Dom Perignon; designed the retail environment for footwear and clothing brand Merrell in Paris; created the new corporate identity for Somerset House in London; launched a new advertising campaign for American snowboarding specialists Bonfire; and completely redesigned The Times including the creation of an entirely new font for the newspaper.
