Niche brand specialist Purple Pilchard has become the PR and marketing support agency for children's football franchise Little Kickers.

Purple Pilchard is more usually associated with food and drinks brands such as Cawston Vale, Darling Spuds, Salty Dog, Rod and Ben's soups and NewTree functional choc However, all these are quirky challenger brands in their markets, and Purple Pilchard co-founder Ian Hills sees similarities with the football franchise and explains that the link with Little Kickers makes perfect sense

"Little Kickers is a feisty, football-orientated proposition run by two larger-than-life founders whose soul goal is to keep footy fun by offering far more than the usual menu of desperately dreary drills," said Hills.

With more than 150 classes nationwide Little Kickers is well placed to do its bit tackling the weighty issue of pre-school obesity, a topic already close to Hills' heart as the author of 'The Toxic Toadburger Conspiracy' (a children's tale about addictive junk food).
