Pureprint Group sponsors apprenticeship programme
Pureprint Group has sponsored three apprentices in collaboration with the BPIF and the British government, as part of a programme established in 2000 forming part of Pureprint's CSR initiatives.
Pureprint Group, based in Uckfield, East Sussex, has announced details of its apprenticeship programme also supported by the BPIF and the British Government in a three-way partnership.
The group has been involved with apprenticeships for the last seven years illustrating its commitment to not only address skill shortages in the print industry but also contribute to the local community.
As part of the Corporate Responsibility initiative programme, Pureprint is working with the BPIF to encourage more on-the-job training by enticing young people from the local community to join the GBP16 million turnover printing group.
The most recent apprentice to complete the three-year apprenticeship programme is Russell Brown, who has been offered a full-time position at Pureprint's prepress department.
The other two apprentices currently sponsored within this programme are Dean Tapp, who has started his NVQ in the Pureprint finishing unit and Luke Petty who will be an apprentice in the press room for two or three years.
Ian Godden, Operations Manager at Pureprint, commened: "It is no big secret that the print industry is struggling to attract young people - we feel it is part of our social responsibility to both the industry and the local community to encourage 16 and 17-year-olds who have slightly different attitudes and a fresh perspective on things to join one of the last remaining manufacturing sectors in this country and help contribute to its growth".
Andrew Bracey, Operations Manager South at the BPIF and an NVQ and workplace assessor on behalf of the organisation, added: "I have worked with Pureprint Group for the last couple of years and I am pleased to see the first apprentice successfully completing the apprenticeship programme; I now look forward to working with and assessing the two younger candidates and to see them successfully complete their apprenticeships".
