Chelsea Football Club has awarded Pureprint the contract to produce its quarterly Bridge Kids magazine, which is 16 pages and has a print run of 38,000 copies.

Pureprint Group, based in Uckfield, East Sussex, has been awarded the contract to print Bridge Kids, a 16-page 38,000 run quarterly junior supporters magazine for Chelsea FC published by ProgrammeMaster Limited The magazine will be printed on Revive 50:50 Gloss using pureprint environmental print technology

Vegetable-oil based inks will be used and the production will be a carbon-neutral process while all the energy used to produce the magazine will come from renewable sources.

Additionally more than 90 per cent of any dry waste and 95 per cent of all solvents associated with production will be recycled with no industrial alcohol used in the printing process.

When asked about the driving force before the decision to engage with Pureprint Group, Liam Curry, Production Director at ProgrammeMaster, said: "Chelsea FC are very keen to demonstrate their commitment to the environment by acting responsibly within their print supply chain.

"The brief was a great challenge from the start; we were charged with the task of finding a printer with solid environmental credentials, that was also cost effective and had a great reputation for colour management - we felt Pureprint provided us with all of these".

Embracing CSR and working with suppliers that have a strong environmental ethos is a big issue for Chelsea FC.

They were eager to apply these principles in the production process of their collateral as a way to deliver positive change quickly and effectively.

Chelsea FC appreciated that choosing the printing process was as critical as choosing the paper: "We went for a paper with a mixture of recycled content and FSC fibre; print quality is very important to us but at the end of the day it's all about getting the environmental and quality balance right", commented David Newby, Marketing Manager at Chelsea FC.
