PSFK event looks into future of marketing

The PSFK Conference brought together a virtual global network of advertising, marketing and trends professionals at the forefront of the digital, agency and blogging communities.

The PSFK Conference held in London on 1 June 2007 was attended by 200 practitioners and featured 28 leading speakers laying out their inspirational visions for the direction of the marketing and advertising industry for the future.

Keynote speakers included Timo Veikkola, Nokia; Russell Davies, OIA/ex-Nike; Johnny Vulkan, Anomaly; Niku Banaie, Naked Communications; and Iain Tait of Poke.

The audience was full of likeminded peers including Steve Vranakis, VCCP, and Daniele Fiandaca, Profero.

The one-day conference was seen by Matt Hardisty, Group Creative Director of Naked, London as: "Simply the best communications conference I have ever been to and I've been to and spoken at a lot around the world.

"There were no agency or media owner sales pitches, no egos, just visions from key industry players".

The conference was hosted by Piers Fawkes, New York based co-founder of PSFK.

"Everything we do at PSFK is aimed to inspire people to make things better - from the articles on our website to the advice we offer clients like Philips and Samsung.

"The speaker line-up at conference is intended to make the audience make real change in their work the very next day".

On stage speakers like author John Grant urged marketers to consider green as a separate division like digital has been delivered in the past; Jeremy Ettinghausen, digital publisher at Penguin explained how they had to create a conversational digital strategy for a 'Face-Tube' generation; web 2.0 guru Hugh MacLeod showed how engaging bloggers could lead to a sales boom; and Martin Cole of WPP explained that modern marketers need to help clients run 'visual businesses' to meet consumer's new needs.

Video footage from the PSFK Conference London will soon be available to PSFK.com readers and US professionals will be able to attend a West Coast version of the conference on 18 September at the PSFK Conference Los Angeles.
