PRG Europe stays dry for Tour de France

A PRG Europe product story

PRG Europe, through event agency innovision, supplied lighting for the opening ceremony of the Tour De France Grand Depart in London's Trafalgar Square Friday 6 July.

Transport for London and partners planned for the Grand Depart weekend for four years and engaged innovision in August 2006 to help turn its plans into reality.

The ASO (Amaury Sport Organisation - owners of the Tour de France) said the organisation of the Grand Depart could not be faulted.

Thousands of people gathered in Trafalgar Square to see a celebration of cycling, London and youth activity alongside the Tour de France cyclist presentations, interviews and protocol.

There were also live music performances and choreographed dance segments.

The luminaires were rigged on Tuesday 3 July in anticipation of the celebration, and the only challenge the crew faced was the torrential rain through the week.

Everything was kept under cover or in hoods, so there was no danger of anything (apart from the crew) getting wet.

The lighting director was Paul Cook, and crew chief Martin Scott, while project manager for PRG Europe was Loz Wilcox.
