A Protocall One product story

Protocall One has announced that it has won a contract to enable the NSPCC to provide online and multi-channel access to its Childline and NSPCC Helpline contact centres in the UK.

The secure online services that Protocall One is helping to create will include support for Instant Messenger, SMS, e-mail and 'white boarding'.

These web-based services will be designed to help children and young people communicate more freely with counsellors and other children using the services.

Protocall One will enable an e-mail messaging service so children and young people can send and receive e-mails from counsellors and other young people in a secure manner.

It will also create a 'messageboard' environment so children and young people and counsellors can run secure online blog discussions on specific issues.

The brief also extends to the use of creative media 'white boarding' so children and young people will be able to run web chat sessions and support these with the drawing of pictures, which are commonly used in the counselling of children who find it difficult to express themselves on painful issues.

Applications extend to a 'fridge magnet' messaging area and 'poetry corner', creating a multi-communications experience for users.

The solution uses the Omnigenesys platform and front-end web applications.

The infrastructure is supported by the use of highly available virtual servers and multi-layered infosecurity provision.
