PPA reveals consumer magazine award shortlist

PPA Marketing has announced the shortlist for the 2007 Consumer Magazine Awards with Carat, MediaCom, Mindshare and ZenithOptimedia up for agency of the year.

The following have been short listed for consideration.

Agency of the Year: Carat; MediaCom; Mindshare; ZenithOptimedia.

Best Use of Magazines: Cancer Research UK: Race for Life, MediaCom; GSK - Nytol, MediaCom; Mazda Mx-5 Favourite Drives, Mindshare; Saab + Solomon, Carat; Sony Ericsson: Now That's What I Call Music, Mediaedge:cia; Toyota Aygo Black, ZenithOptimedia; Unilever - Domestos, Mindshare; Volkswagen Touarag, MediaCom.

Collaboration of the Year: British Gas Green Scene, Carat and Time Out; Cussons Carex and BBC Pre-School Titles, Mediaedge:cia Manchester and BBC Magazines; Department of Health/COI, Mediaedge:cia and IPC Media; Diet Coke, Vizeum and Emap Advertising; NIVEA Sunkissed Skin, Carat and IPC Media; Sony Ericsson Walkman Phones, Mediaedge:cia and Emap2; Uncle Bens, ZenithOptimedia and IPC Media; VW GolfPlus, BBC Magazines and The Daily Telegraph; Xbox 360 Global Challenge, Emap Advertising and Universal McCann.

Idea of the Year.

The final judging panel includes David Goodchild, Managing director of H Bauer; Ollie Joyce, Partner at Rise Communications; Neil Jones, Managing director of Carat, and Richard Brooke, Media negotiations manager, Unilever.

The winners will be announced at PPA Marketing's Consumer Magazine on Thursday 20 September 2007 at London's IMAX cinema, Waterloo.

Phil Cutts, Marketing Director, PPA Marketing: "We have had an overwhelming response from agencies and publishers; 2007 seeing a wealth of entries particularly in the agency of the year category, reflecting the strong commitment to the medium.

"The standard of entries has again been very high, and whittling them down for a shortlist has been a difficult task.

"I don't envy the final judges! The quality of the shortlisted campaigns is testament to both the creativity and innovation we have seen in consumer magazine advertising over the last 12 months and the award presentations will be a celebration of this accomplishment".
