Pitney Bowes Group 1 Software and Pitney Bowes MapInfo have announced that two of their leading products will support Microsoft SQL Server 2008.

Enterprise customers considering Microsoft SQL Server 2008 as their data platform will now have access to Pitney Bowes Group 1 Software's new Communications Intelligence (CI) Platform for address and mail management.

In addition, Pitney Bowes MapInfo will provide support for the spatial enhancements to Microsoft SQL Server 2008 in its MapInfo Professional v9.5 location intelligence software.

These latest offerings enable organisations to directly access, visualise and analyse data from SQL Server 2008 while adding location intelligence analysis to business applications and optimising client-customer communications.

"Our growing strategic alliance with Pitney Bowes MapInfo and Pitney Bowes Group 1 Software ensures that we will continue to deliver innovative data solutions that meet the unique needs of our joint customers," said Eddie Amos, general manager, worldwide partner evangelism, Microsoft.

"By utilising the new spatial capabilities in SQL Server 2008, Pitney Bowes MapInfo and Pitney Bowes Group 1 Software help bring improved location, business data management and high performance communications capabilities to our joint customers," said Mark Jewett, director of SQL Server, Microsoft.

Pitney Bowes Group 1 Software's Communications Intelligence Platform provides enterprise customers the flexibility to manage all address quality and direct mail applications through a single user interface, providing end-to-end control and simplicity across the customer communication experience.

Utilising delivery intelligence capabilities, the CI Platform optimises client-customer communications throughout the mail stream while improving business efficiencies.

"Our initial client experience has been outstanding - the CI Platform has demonstrated the ability to lower the client's total cost of ownership while retaining their investment in people, job set-up and processes," said Mike Cooper, general manager, Communications Intelligence, Pitney Bowes Group 1 Software.

"In our latest implementation, we were able to integrate the CI Platform in just 15 minutes and increased customer throughput by 600 per cent.

"With the addition of SQL Server support to both the CI Platform and MapInfo Professional v9.5, we are providing organisations with more powerful solutions for analyzing location-based information and communicating with customers".

The compatibility of Pitney Bowes MapInfo Professional v9.5 with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 will help Pitney Bowes MapInfo customers access and manage increasing volumes of geographic and business data critical to a wide range of business applications and projects.

Tight integration between MapInfo Professional and SQL Server 2008 gives users powerful visualisation and data analysis capabilities for both location and tabular information that can be stored in a secure and scalable database of SQL Server 2008.
