Pierhouse has configured its browser-based Net tick IT sign and ticketing system to work with mobile phones, as well as with printed, electronic and digital media.

The company has partnered with Mobilize Systems to deliver this capability, which it describes as a logical step for the software.

According to Pierhouse, most retailers are using marketing to mobile phones to add to a customer's in-store experience.

Adrian Segens, business development manager at Pierhouse, said: 'Shoppers can check out the in-store signage and if they want more information they don't have to wait to find a salesperson; they can simply text to an advertised short code and receive details direct to their phone.

'They can also receive mobile coupons sent by SMS or barcode.

He added: 'Using mobile technology in this way can also help retailers drive traffic to their call centres and websites at very little cost.

'An additional benefit is that they also acquire the mobile numbers of customers who opt in to receive future information and offers by phone, so they can build loyalty and broaden their customer community.
