The Grand Tour travels to York
Following considerable success in London, 'The Grand Tour', an award-winning creation by The Partners, opens in York this summer.
In conjunction with The National Gallery and Hewlett Packard, full-scale, high-resolution prints of masterpiece paintings from both The National Gallery and the York Art Gallery, will appear throughout the streets of York for a 17-week period during summer 2008.
Following its success on the streets of London in 2007, The Grand Tour campaign is an innovative approach to branding that aims to raise awareness of the York Gallery's permanent collection through a modern take on the 17th century Grand Tour.
To assist The York Gallery in bringing the art to the attention of the busy British public, 49 full-size prints are currently being hung on the streets of York.
Jim Prior, lead consultant on the project, said: "The Partners Grand Tour work is an exceptional idea; it's simple enough to require no explanation or justification beyond its physical self, yet bold enough to capture attention and engage the mind.
"We are thrilled that the concept is being used in York - this more than anything else demonstrates the value it brought to the National Gallery last year".
