Live event agency Paragon creates service for greener meetings

Companies are increasingly looking at the need to roll out their CSR policies to cover all areas of their business and that includes their live marketing and corporate events.

Paragon live event agency launched their OnePlanet service in 2006 as the framework for producing more environmentally friendly events for their clients by looking at the areas of potential negative impact and creating a strategy that meets both the clients commercial and creative objectives and key sustainability objectives.

"It's about creating a balance and achieving realistic goals," says Val Payne, Paragon director.

"There are also real economic as well as environmental benefits to be gained, such as demonstrating CSR leadership, enhanced brand reputation, creating awareness and cost savings." As well as calculating the CO2 footprint of a project, Paragon provides practical and interesting solutions including: choice of location, travel, energy efficiency, waste reduction and use of reusable and recyclable materials in design and build recycling.

"Producing a greener event does not mean a reduction in quality, creativity and technical innovation - far from it," says Jacqui Loftus, Paragon managing director.

"Choosing to stage a more environmentally friendly event is a quality statement in itself, with the benefit of a greater overall commitment to quality and efficiency.".
