During their three-year relationship, IBM's facility in Warwick has provided the foundation for Nomad's increasingly successful debit and prepaid card processing business.
With Nomad's increasing success in the prepaid arena, sales projections demonstrated the requirement to expand the company's current infrastructure to satisfy anticipated demand from 2008 onwards.
Speaking about the IBM partnership, Kevin Kelson, chief operating officer at Nomad said: "Our existing relationship with IBM has been invaluable.
We conducted an exacting series of workshops with IBM covering issues such as capacity planning, performance, technical communications, security, monitoring and control.
This process gave both parties the confidence to commit that this major investment will deliver a tenfold increase in terms of performance time and 400% extra processing capacity." The investigative process carried out with IBM also provided the opportunity to review Nomad's disaster recovery service.
"Disaster recovery is a mission critical aspect to our customers," said Kelson.
"We have significantly upgraded the current disaster recovery offering by investing in identical hosting facilities at IBM Portsmouth to those used for the production environment at IBM Warwick.
In the event of a catastrophic event at the primary site, the secondary site will be in operation within less than one hour.
Fraud management, Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering solutions will also be offered as optional services for Nomad's customers as part of this processing infrastructure upgrade.
The new infrastructure is due to go live in the second quarter of 2007.
IBM will commission the hardware and this will be followed by rigorous testing by Nomad.
"Our investment in the new processing infrastructure provides all our customers with a high quality, scalable and flexible technology solution for all their card processing requirements whether it is prepaid or debit," said Kelson.
