NEC Display Solutions has announced that its digital projectors are to be rolled out by European cinema group Odeon for a string of forthcoming 3D Hollywood blockbusters.

Following extensive two-year trials at Odeon Hatfield in Hertfordshire, NEC's digital NC1600s are to be rolled out to its cinemas.

The projectors are intended to enable the cinema group to screen 3D movies, such as Disney's Bolt and the forthcoming Monsters Vs Aliens, for an experience that puts the audience right at the heart of the action.

NEC's digital cinema projectors are also claimed to deliver outstanding brightness, sharper graphics and stunning colour.

Its NC1600C is an integrated DLP cinema projector that houses both the lamp power supply and projector head in the same unit.

It has been specifically developed for medium-sized screens, delivering high-quality output and ease of operation.

With 17,000 lumens and 2K (2048x1080) resolution, the NC1600C offers one-touch operation and memory functions for lens position and lamp output.
