Net Visible urges firms to consider online PR

A Net Visible product story

Net Visible has urged businesses to consider online PR as a cost-effective way to publicise their products and services to their local areas.

More than half of 1,300 UK local newspapers are expected to close within the next five years, according to recent evidence given to a House of Commons select committee.

Online PR is a cost-effective alternative to businesses looking to promote their products and services locally.

Mick Thorburn, co-founder of Net Visible, said: 'The crisis within the local newspaper industry means that companies who may already be struggling to attract new customers can no longer rely on this bedrock of local interest to deliver.

'Opportunities to promote local company news have shrunk dramatically as publishers look to cut issue sizes to save money.

As local newspapers are in crisis, the internet plays an ever-increasing part in our lives, with more than 60 per cent of the UK population regularly 'surfing the net' and half of these searching for local providers of products and services.
