Net Benefit launches Ultra-V platform
Net Benefit has announced the launch of Ultra-V, its high-availability virtualisation platform.
Based on Release Two of Microsoft's Windows Server 2008, the platform follows the launch of Net Benefit's Hyper-V-based virtual private servers (VPS) earlier in 2009.
Designed to take advantage of the performance and virtualisation capabilities of the latest Dell blade servers and Intel's Nehalem micro architecture, Ultra-V is said to offer a cost-effective virtualisation platform that is flexible, scalable and resilient.
The Ultra-V platform also sits behind a firewall security layer providing peace of mind for all customers whether they require a single VPS or complete virtualisation solution.
Net Benefit said Ultra-V delivers a high-availability virtualisation platform while maintaining the customisation and scalability usually associated with dedicated servers.
The Ultra-V platform provides the ability to increase the RAM or CPU specification of each VPS.
Routine maintenance activities such as patching can be carried out to the host servers without customers experiencing downtime.
