A National Schools Partnership product story
Edited by the Marketingweek Marketplace editorial team Oct 13, 2009

National Schools Partnership (NSP) has developed a school science project in association with Sony Pictures to mark the release of 'Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs' at cinemas.

The campaign involves 1,000 schools, and creates links from the film to the real world, through which pupils will discover ways to connect science topics to some of the great inventors and inventions of our time, as well as learn how to test their ideas through scientific enquiry.

The interactive activities on the I'm An Inventor website include starter-style quizzes to introduce science topics, as well as engaging and practical experiments that can be used within a topic as a plenary, extension or assessment activities.

Also provided are: homework tasks to enthuse pupils about science in the real world, offering simple and effective ideas for experiments to do at home; teacher guides, PowerPoint slides and interactive whiteboard activities; inventor homework activity sheets, including competition entry form and 'I'm An Inventor' stickers.

A competition offers one school the chance to attend a private screening of 'Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs' at a local cinema, plus GBP500-worth of classroom equipment of their choice.

In addition, one pupil could win a family trip to Futuroscope (a futuristic amusement park in France) as well as runner-up 'Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs' goody bags.
