3M Digital Signage unveils Network Edition 3.5

3M, the diversified technology company, has released an enhanced version of its leading web-based digital signage software, 3M Digital Signage Software - Network Edition (NE) 3.5.

The Network Edition 3.5 release builds on existing capabilities for scheduling playlists of multimedia files to play out on any screen anywhere in the world.

It includes the introduction of new server-class software products that allow users to host their own network servers, expanded and enhanced Active Information Modules offering dynamic content offerings such as local weather feeds, enhanced network management functions and augmented security features.

Highlights include 3M Digital Signage - Full Server, which enables users to host their own networks and enables full Network Edition functionality behind users' firewalls, internationalisation capabilities for multilanguage support, and an application program interface (API) that facilitates seamless integration between NE and external systems and applications for increased functionality and customisation.

Current users of Network Edition 3.0 will receive automatic upgrades and will see improvements to the NE software the next time they log in.

The Server Class products are optional and include all the improvements and features of the core NE software product.

New features and capabilities of Network Edition 3.5: 3M Digital Signage Server Class Software Products.

3M Digital Signage - Full Server: Enables users to host and manage their own Network Edition platform; also features Server Watch, which enables server-side NE application monitoring and status reporting.

3M Digital Signage - Site Server: Provides ability for aggregation of player-to-server communications via a local 'distribution hub', particularly useful for networks featuring a large number of players at each location; supports a variety of distribution methods including FTP, HTTP, Satellite and Disk.

3M Digital Signage - Content Server: Provides local hosting of the content storage functionality for Network Edition.

3M Digital Signage - Active Information Modules: Live content feeds, such as local weather and news, for easy incorporation into customer playlists; new selectable backgrounds for eye-catching content.

New Features: Application Program Interface (API): Allows user systems/applications to interface with 3M Network Edition software; internationalisation capabilities for multi-language support.

Other Functional Improvements: Enhanced Security, including SSL and database encryption; enhanced proof-of-play reporting; improved user interface responsiveness and load time.
