Games publisher Ubisoft has worked with independent videogame website publisher Eurogamer Network on a community website called Eurogamers.

The Eurogamers site is now live and can be found at http://gamers.eurogamer.net Ubisoft is using Eurogamers to promote the Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 videogame - out now on Xbox 360 and coming soon to PlayStation 3

Eurogamers offers a set of marketing options to publishers beyond the standard advertising placements common to videogames websites.

For example, complete site re-skins allow users to decorate their profiles, while users can be targeted based on their gaming habits and preferences.

The Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 activity was planned by MJ Media, youth and entertainment marketing specialists.

"Eurogamers is a great brand extension of Eurogamer that allows us to communicate on a deeper, more interactive level with core gamers", said Karl Basran, MJ Media's Head of Digital.

Senior Brand Manager Phil Brannelly at Ubisoft said: "We are extremely proud to be partners of the Eurogamers launch.

"It is the perfect channel to promote Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 to dedicated gamers and we continue to be enthused by the work Eurogamer is putting in, in terms of interacting more closely with their readers".

The Eurogamers social network has been built with gamers in mind, offering a specialist set of features to keep Eurogamer users involved in a vibrant community as well as attracting new users to the site.

The first version of Eurogamers allows gamers to customise their gamer homepage and the content they're shown.

They can set up most wanted game lists, game collections, add friends, send instant messages and find users with the same games as them.

They can also create or join public or private groups - ideal for clans, guilds and other special-interest groups.

Eurogamers will be rolling out in five languages this year, starting with Germany and France in the coming weeks - fully realising the vision of a truly pan-European community of gamers.

"The Eurogamers launch is the first step in our plan to offer new ways of interacting with gamers," said Rupert Loman, Eurogamer's Managing Director.

"The reaction to the site from our group of beta testers has been overwhelmingly positive, and we're looking forward to developing the site to its full potential".

The Eurogamer Network was founded in 1999 by brothers Rupert and Nick Loman.

Eurogamer is the publisher of the UK's most popular independent videogames website, Eurogamer.net.

The site had an ABCE audited audience of 1,317,522 unique users during November 2006 and remains the only videogames website with independently audited traffic figures.

The company also publishes a video site for gamers, Eurogamer TV, and a German edition, Eurogamer.de.

The company is gearing up to launch Eurogamer.fr in the coming weeks.

Eurogamer is also the publisher of the world's market-leading industry resource, GamesIndustry.biz and a site for the mobile games industry, MobileIndustry.biz.
