BSC kicks off safety awareness campaign

The British Safety Council (BSC) is launching a significant awareness campaign to ensure safety stays firmly at the top of the agenda for business in the UK and overseas.

The British Safety Council's campaign comes at a time when health and safety is an increasingly important issue for business - driven in the UK by the Government's 21st Century skills strategy to upskill the UK workforce and overseas by a need from larger, international organisations for health, safety and environmental activities to be co-ordinated across national boundaries Working with health and safety PR specialists The McOnie Agency the BSC will target specialist, regional, national and international press

The campaign represents considerable investment from the BSC, which aims to not only highlight the specialist information, training, qualifications, and auditing that it offers businesses, but to focus attention on key events including the International Safety Awards, the organisation's growing international role with the recent launch of the first BSC overseas office in Dubai and preparations for the 2012 Olympics.

Jonathan Bramsdon, The British Safety Council's Acting Chief Executive, explained: "Last year, in the UK alone there were 28,817 major incidents that resulted in injury and loss of life.

"Faced with a multitude of issues in today's constantly evolving environment, organisations must be able to easily access the vital expertise they need to raise their standards, improve efficiency and reduce the number of workplace accidents.

"That is where we come in: we aim to ensure that every business, here and abroad, has access to the practical advice, training, and expertise that they need to operate safely and successfully".
