MCCA Best Awards applaud outstanding work
The 18th MCCA Best Awards saw The Communications Agency scoop the Best of the Best Award for its Give a Few Bob campaign for the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation.
On what was a particularly good night for the agency, The Communications Agency also walked away with Best Integrated Communication Campaign and Best Small Budget Communication.
If there was an award for most trips to the stage on the night, however, it would have gone to 141 Worldwide, which received both the Best and Merit awards for Best Art Direction for Advertising Communications, a Merit for Best Art Direction for Sales Promotions Communications and Bests for both Best Photography and Best Illustration.
Other highlights for the evening included Initials taking the gong for Best Newcomer, Clark Mackay and Walpole scooping both Best and Merit in the main Digital category (Best Communication Campaign Featuring Digital/Interactive Marketing), RPM wining Best Development of Agency Talent, Sense landing Best Professional Innovation by an Agency, and ignition receiving the Best Communication Campaign Featuring Experiential Marketing for its Nokia New Year's Eve event.
The agency of the year award went to iris.
The evening also saw the unveiling of the agency body's new chairman, Gary Brine, founder, group CEO and president of US operations of Gyro International.
Brine, who presented outgoing chairman Graham Kemp with a special Best Award for Services to the Industry, said Kemp's was a tough act to follow but that he was looking forward to taking up his new role and carrying on Kemp's legacy.
Of the evening, MCCA managing director, Scott Knox, said: "With such a huge amount of talent on show this evening it really demonstrates that creativity is alive and well in the marketing communications sector.
"The Best Awards is all about effective communications that add value for clients, and at a time when so many people are talking up a recession, it's important that corporates see that money spent on marketing communications is money well spent".
This year's Best Awards evening was attended by over 58 agencies and their clients and is a clear sign of how much the association has grown in the past 12 months.
Meanwhile, the awards themselves continue to be regarded as the premier awards programme for integrated marketing communication agencies.
The awards reflect outstanding marketing creativity and expertise combined with superb campaign results.
