Firms announce integrated creative
talent award
Gary Sharpen and Major Players have joined forces to develop the Shelf Awards to promote young creative talent from Bucks College in the integrated marketing arena.
The Shelf Awards aim to put the top integrated creative talent graduating from Bucks College in the spotlight with a chance to show off their work to some of the industry's leading lights The winners on the evening receive an actual shelf in anticipation of the future awards they will gather to place on it as they progress in their careers
Gary Sharpen, a former long-time creative head at Saatchi and Saatchi, founder of Leonardo and Creative Partner at Sharpen Troughton Owens, conceived the awards and has been running them for seven years.
This is the first time, however, that he has enlisted the support of a partner.
"I wanted to add even more weight to The Shelf this year," said Sharpen, "especially with more agencies looking to integrated talent, not least in the digital area.
"Major Players are ideal partners, they get integration and they believe in supporting young talent".
Jack Grattan, MD of Major Players, added: "Raw creative talent is the future of our industry and any initiatives to find, support and nurture fresh talent are to be applauded.
"Gary is a great ambassador to the integrated industry and an excellent role model for young Bucks".
Gary Sharpen spent nine years at Saatchi and Saatchi as Integrated Creative Director, founded Leonardo with Leo Burnett and was Creative Partner at Sharpen Troughton Owens.
He works extensively to promote young talent in the industry, both through The Shelf and his work with NABS Fast Forward.
He has won most of the industry's creative awards.
