O2 extends advertising deal with
MagneCap
Mobile telecommunications giant O2 has extended its current forecourt advertising campaign with MagneCap to target motorists across the UK.
Making use of MagneCap's innovative petrol pump advertising, O2's new ads will appear on more than 8,000 pumps in 250 forecourts around the country The current O2 campaign will continue to promote the fantastic pay-as-you-go propositions, illustrating that customers can top up their mobile phone in the forecourt's pay station
O2 has been using MagneCap's advertising platform since November to help drive up sales of Airtime within the forecourt channel benefiting both the customer and the retailer.
The MagneCap system is designed to eliminate the estimated 1.5 million misfuelling incidents that occur in the UK each year.
By using specially designed petrol caps, consumers are able to clearly define the type of fuel coming from the pump.
In addition to this, MagneCap boards occupy prime space in which to advertise products and services.
The system is found at all Morrison supermarket forecourts, as well as franchised dealerships including Texaco, BP and Esso.
The deal marks the start of a busy period for MagneCap with Raleigh Bikes joining O2 in promoting their products via advertising space.
Over the past few months MagneCap has seen a steady increase in companies signing up to market their goods and services using its various boards.
Coca-Cola and Vodafone have also appeared on MagneCap boards around the UK over the past three months.
"This is a revolutionary advertising opportunity, and something very different in forecourt marketing," commented Tony Miceli, chairman of MagneCap.
"It is a great way to grab consumers' attention as the advertising space is directly in their eye-line when they re-fuel - it is the perfect opportunity to creatively market the goods and services that are sold in petrol stations.
"I expect that O2 will see an increase in the number of customers that top up their phones at forecourts, now that they are using the MagneCap platform".
