Granada looking ahead to bumper year

Pocoyo, Numberjacks and Bella Sara are all growing strongly for Granada Ventures, according to Licensing.biz.

Granada Ventures' 2008 has got off to a good start, with a number of its properties continuing to grow in stature Ratings for Numberjacks peaked at an all-time high in February, with 537,000 viewers - 102,000 more than In the Night Garden, according to the firm

Retail listings for the property have been confirmed in Toys R Us, Amazon, Woolworths, Clintons, Hamleys, Mothercare, Toymaster, Sainsbury's, Asda, Morrisons, HMV, Play, Borders and WH Smiths.

In addition, Gerlert has come on board as licensee for wheeled toys, with the firm planning a line of bikes, trikes, ride-ons and scooters this year.

The latest DVD - Brain Gain - rolled out this week.

Meanwhile, Pocoyo's ratings have doubled on Five's Milkshake since its launch on the channel in January.

The show is attracting 200,000 viewers, double the timeslot average.

A new DVD - Scooter Madness - is due for release on 24 March.

There are now over 50 million Bella Sara trading cards sold worldwide and over two million registered users to date.

Basic Fun has signed up as the licensee for collectible figurines and key chains in the US, Canada and Mexico, with further deals due to be announced shortly.

Moving away from the children's properties.

Wensleydale has signed a licence agreement with Emmerdale for a cheese range, while Ethos will be launching a line of Hell's Kitchen oven and kitchenware and Britannia Games is looking for sales over 100,000 for its board game.

Finally, an ad campaign with a leading FMCG firm will kick off in April for Thunderbirds.

It will include TV ads featuring character Brains, plus posters, online and in-store promotions.
