London Toy Fair opens its doors

The London Toy Fair started yesterday at ExCeL with a number of famous faces making an appearance.

The 2008 UK Toy Fair open its doors yesterday - with the trade and media flocking to ExCeL to see what's new from the vast number of exhibitors The show's organiser has put together a comprehensive programme of events, with a number of famous faces putting in an appearance to push various products

Ravensburger invited look-alikes of The Queen and President George W Bush to celebrate its 125th anniversary, while The Stig from Top Gear promoted Scalextric's new Powerlaps set.

Terry Venables and Peter Jones from Dragon's Den were also due to put in appearances.

In addition, Corgi has the actual Aston Martin DBS car driven by Daniel Craig in Casino Royale and the upcoming new Bond film.

Its stand also boasts a selection of the original screen props from the Harry Potter films, on public display for the first time as part of its new range: these includes Dumbledore's and Voldemort's wands, Lucius Malfoy's Death Eater Mask and an original copy of The Daily Prophet.

Nintendo's Mario and Microsoft's Master Chief (from Halo) are also on the Corgi stand.

Toy Fair runs until Saturday 2 February at ExCeL in London's Docklands.
