Leahy Brand Design has revealed the new brand identity created for Environmental Protection UK, the environmental protection charity supporting pollution control professionals.

The new brand identity for the UK's longest established environmental organisation coincides with the official renaming of the charity, formerly known as NSCA The main reasons for the identity overhaul were, first and foremost, to promote a greater awareness of the charity and to attract new membership through clearer communication via their new strategy document called "Future Focus", containing the charity's new five-year strategy

The central driving force behind Leahy Brand Design's brief was to present the revised strategy plan in a more modern, accessible and consumer-friendly way.

This involved conveying the message in a simple, effective way - not only in the layout but also through providing at-a-glance information on posters for use at exhibitions aimed at internal and external audiences.

Another core element of the brief was to encapsulate clearly the brand message and to position Environmental Protection UK as an authority on environment-led issues.

This has been achieved by capturing the elements of the environment within the identity.

The new logo focuses on the 'E' of environment, which is protected by the cloud formation swirl effect to communicate the idea that the environment is undergoing great change and that the organisation is dynamic enough to deal with those changes.

Although the idea is to breathe new life into the brand, it is important to have a visual link back to the original identity to keep it relevant, so the blue colour scheme is maintained and developed using a blue-green palette to reflect the elements of sky and water.

The new identity is being rolled out across all collateral with the website going live later this month.

Philip Mulligan, CEO, Environmental Protection UK, commented: "This is an important time for Environment Protection UK; the key to building greater awareness of the organisation was to simplify our aims and redefine our areas of action - namely air, noise and land quality.

"We needed a suitably simple but dynamic new identity to communicate these brand values.

"We are grateful to Leahy Brand Design for bringing these brand values to life".

Tim Leahy, Managing Director, Leahy Brand Design, added: "It was important to strike the right balance between creating an identity that is new, has great impact yet is still relevant - the new identity that we have created for Environmental Protection UK will hopefully give the organisation more stand-out and ultimately drive forward membership".
