Website to help stray cats and dogs
The owner of an internet services provider has repaid the animal sanctuary that rescued his dog by designing and hosting its new website.
Neil Erlam's young Labrador Ruby is a regular visitor to the headquarters of Internet Business Solutions, at Radway Green Business Park, in Alsager.
But it may have been a different story without the intervention of Alsager Animals in Need, a registered charity that looks after abandoned cats and dogs.
Erlam said: "We only adopted Ruby six months ago after my children found her roaming the streets of Alsager.
"We took her to the Animals in Need sanctuary and they told us Ruby had been found around the town six times in the space of a few weeks, because she kept escaping from her previous owners' garden.
"Who knows what might have happened if the sanctuary wasn't there to take her in?" The sanctuary is to use the website to help raise its profile and encourage more donations, which will enable it to take in more animals like Ruby.
They don't keep animals on the premises, but instead send them out to foster homes or boarding kennels, but they still have to pay vets' bills and for shelters to house the cats at carers' homes.
Animal Co-ordinator Hilary Baxter said: "Vets and accommodation can be very expensive, so we need to raise as much as we can through donations.
"We jumped at the chance when Neil offered to put the website together, because it will help our fundraising, and inform people what animals need re-housing at the time".
Along with designing and hosting the website, Internet Business Solutions will maintain and optimise it to ensure people can find the site easily.
